Thallus foliose, loosely adnate, 3–6 cm wide, 200–400 µm thick, leaden grey or browned to blackened. Lobes rotund or oblong to elongate, ±imbricate, flat to slightly concave or gently undulate, 2–5 µm wide; margins entire to sinuate, often recurved to loosely revolute. Upper surface ±matt, wrinkled, isidiate; wrinkles coarse and irregularly anastomosing or finer and periclinal near margins; isidia granular. Lower surface ±more densely wrinkled, with uniform tomentum comprising numerous tight bundles of whitish to dark blue hairs c. 1.5 mm long which contain thelophoric acid; cells cylindrical. Apothecia and pycnidia not seen. | ||
A rare species in Australia, known from Qld and N.S.W. It is also recorded from Africa and India. Grows on bark. | ||
